Enter the Hipster...and why buying old cameras...
Sad to say that my lovely spangly new Olympus Pen f has had some issues, mainly with a sticky shutter. Naturally this has made me rather despondent as I was looking forward to testing it out with a view to it becoming my go to compact street camera.
Two things have sweetened the pill, however. The first is that Simon Chesterman of Collectable Cameras (who sold me the Pen f) is covering the costs...

A question
In 2013 which looks more silly? A. taking a photograph on a tablet or B. taking a photograph on a large format camera? I intend to find out.

Rage against the dying of the dark
As the very first, very subtle breaths of spring start to appear here in Southern England, it is perhaps time to reflect upon the Winter on its way out.
I usually dislike winter. Not so much the cold (it is seldom really that cold here anyway) but the darkness used to really get to me. I don’t know whether the darkness exacerbated my predisposition to depression or not but my usual reaction...

bodiegroup:
I rarely post something that is not mine. This is too good to not share. Looks like an amazing film.
I also seldom reblog but I agree…this looks wonderful. I just hope I get the chance to see it.

Research and Plans
Further to my recent post on expensive hobbies, I have been doing a bit of research.
Assuming that the 8mm camera I am obtaining works (It is coming from Canada in March), I think I am going to give it a go running a reel through it. As far as I can tell 8mm film is available in the UK, with process paid deals, for the sort of price that makes it a feasible luxury.
My plans are to use it to make...

Expensive hobbies I would like to try...
Large Format Photography: probably 5x4. This is almost a complete mystery to me and I have no idea whether the cheaper options (aka some sort of a Graflex), would be too restrictive to make it fun and creative.
8mm cinematography: as I have come by a 60s Bell and Howell cine camera. From my limited research the film for this is rare, expensive and costs a small fortune to have developed.
The...

This is probably not important...
I have 200 followers now, which is nice. Although I reckon there are about 20 of you who are regularly supportive and giving me feedback, which is even more lovely (particularly when your 198th follower was yet another porn blog). Thank you all for being engaged in a great ongoing mass photographic dialogue.
